Bella Hadid’s perfectly fine without a relationship, thanks so much

It’s boring but it still happens: someone doesn’t have a significant other, others assume said person must be perpetually on the lookout for one.
And should said person be seen in the company of another person, well, there must be a chance, right?
If you’re a celebrity, increase that expectation tenfold – and with your every move being photographed, assume that a stroll with a friend will definitely be misconstrued.

And so, not for the first time, model Bella Hadid found herself having to explain that a male friend was – shocker – a friend.
She pointed this out in fabulous fashion.
She wrote on Twitter: “Just to be clear...I'm STILL not dating any of my best friends, y'all! In a committed relationship with myself & my happiness for now”.
The man in question (this time) is apparently a DJ, but it’s not the first time she’s refuted the idea from fans and media that she must be dating the person she’s been seen out with, or that she is definitely after a relationship.

So it’s hard to blame her for taking the opportunity to remind everyone of the old woman-man-fish-bicycle idea.
In May, fellow model Adriana Lima expressed a similar sentiment, but went as far as getting a ring to remind everyone that she was perfectly happy concentrating on herself right now, thanks so much.
And as Lucy Mangan’s Stylist column explained recently, we’re all capable of having a platonic friendship with somebody.
Soooo, back off?
