Larson wasn’t only on stage to give her acceptance speech, though. She then stepped back and passed the microphone to Bennett and Moneymaker, who in turn thanked Larson for acknowledging the stunt community.

““It was such an honour to work on this film and be part of bringing such a strong female character to life and to be able to do it together was just such a special experience for all of us,” Bennett said. “It’s truly a rare acknowledgment and it means so much to the both of us and to the entire stunt community.”

“Joanna and I actually grew up together,” Moneymaker continued. “As young girls we wanted to be just like Lara Croft and G.I. Jane, so it’s a real honour to be a part of this character and hopefully pass along some of that inspiration and strength that those iconic women brought to us.”

While everyone was feeling inspired by the behind-the-scenes representation, Sandra Bullock carried the theme of female empowerment forward when she paid tribute to female heroes such as Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel in her acceptance speech for Most Frightened Performance. Petition for a Larson and Bullock spinoff, anyone?
