Britney Spears’ Piece Of Me Las Vegas residency has received rave reviews ever since it reopened earlier this year with a revamped show and set-list.

But until now, there’s been one thing missing. One thing that could take the fireworks, feathers, spandex and glitter to a whole new level.

That’s right, you guessed it; a spoken word cover of a 90s feminist anthem.

In a new video clip that has surfaced on Twitter, Spears can be seen giving fans an unexpected treat during her show this week, with a recital of Meredith Brook’s iconic 1997 hit Bitch.

During a break between songs, one of Spears’ backing dancers can be seen bringing over her glasses (essential for getting a good look at the wild reactions), before she tells the crowd: “I just wanted to let you guys know, I feel like a bitch.”

Striding around the stage, Spears continues: “And a lover… and a child… and a mother.”

The star then breaks into an ad libbed spoken word performance of the full Bitch chorus, delighting screaming fans with:

“And a sinner, and a saint, and I do not feel ashamed. I’m your hell, I’m your dream, and I’m nothing in between.

“And I wouldn’t want it any other motherf***ing way.”

Spears is currently performing her Piece Of Me show at Planet Hollywood three times a week, and will continue doing so until May next year. So it’s no surprise that the star wanted to shake things up a little.

It’s also not the first time she’s brought a little edge to her set with some brilliantly 90s-themed cover action.

During her 2009 Circus Tour, the Toxic singer covered Alanis Morisette’s You Oughta Know, which is something we’d rather like to see again…
