Celine Dion fans, a brilliant musical biopic is on its way

Don’t think twice, just mark your calendars.

Near, far, wherever you are in 2020 we bet you’ll be in line to see The Power of Love, the new incredible-sounding biopic about Céline Dion.

That’s right, Dion is the latest iconic singer to be given the movie treatment. Of late, we’ve watched the life of Queen’s Freddie Mercury up on the big screen in Bohemian Rhapsody, and we’re eagerly awaiting Rocket Man – the biopic about Elton John.

Dion has been present at couture fashion week over the past few seasons

But our hopes are highest for the one and only Dion. According to Variety, the movie will explore the Grammy winner’s childhood in Canada, rise to fame, and her relationship with her late husband and manager, René Angélil. And French actress Valérie Lemercier is taking on the lead role (and she’s directing the film, too).

“I discovered the strength of their love story and their great humour, and I better understood how the alchemy of their three individual ambitions made an unwanted, little girl the greatest star on the planet,” Lemercier said, after reading more about Dion’s life after the recent death of her husband.

Due to hit our screens in December 2020, the film will predominantly be in French and Dion has given it her blessing – and the rights to some of her biggest hits. So be prepared for a sing-a-long happening in a cinema near you.

And it’s all kicked off on Twitter, with fellow Dion fans rejoicing in the news.

Mark your calendars. 2020 is already looking up.
