Dakota Johnson has been cast as Anastasia Steele in the film adaptation of E.L. James erotic fiction hit Fifty Shades of Grey, alongside Charlie Hunnam as Christian Grey.
The news was confirmed by E.L. James on Twitter.
"I am delighted to let you know that the lovely Dakota Johnson has agreed to be our Anastasia in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey," she announced to her followers, later adding:
"The gorgeous and talented Charlie Hunnam will be Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey."
Kate, who also works a model, is the daughter of actress Melanie Griffith. She starred in the short-lived Fox TV series Ben & Kate and her film work includes roles in The Social Network and 21 Jump Street. Charlie Hunnam starred in this year's action adventure Pacific Rim.
Fifty Shades of Grey the movie, directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, is set for release next August. Filming is expected to begin in the next few months.
