Demi Moore is scared she is "not worthy of being loved" after recently splitting from her husband of six years, Ashton Kutcher.

The 49-year-old actress - who filed for divorce from Ashton in November after he was accused of cheating on her - says she is concerned there is something "fundamentally wrong" with her.

"What scares me is that I'm going to ultimately find out at the end of my life that I'm really not lovable, that I'm not worthy of being loved," the Ghost star told Harper's Bazaar magazine. "That there's something fundamentally wrong with me and that I wasn't wanted here in the first place."

But Demi, who has been married three times including to Bruce Willis, insisted that her past relationship "wounds" would not define her going forward.

Asked what the concept of freedom meant to her, Demi replied, "Letting go of the outcome. Truly being in the moment. Not reflecting on the past ... To not be defined by your wounds. Somebody wrote something to me that said, 'Don't let your wounds make you become someone you're not.' That's really powerful. And not taking life too seriously."

The interview was conducted one week after Demi filed for divorce from Two and A Half Men star Ashton late last year.

"I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi," Ashton said at the time of the split, as a woman from San Diego went public claiming she had a fling with him. "Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail."

Demi is currently starring in Margin Call, a thriller based in an investment bank during the economic meltdown.
