The four GBBO judges had a festive meal at Sandi Toksvig’s house.
The eighth series of The Great British Bake Off may have come to an end in October, but that doesn’t mean that the judges – Noel Fielding, Sandi Toksvig, Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith – don’t still hang out.
Don’t believe us? Want to have your cockles warmed until it’s almost unbearable? Check out these photos of the gang enjoying a jolly Christmas lunch together, shared by Leith on Twitter:
“Christmas comes early to the Gang of Four,” Leith wrote, alongside a photo showing the four GBBO judges in what appears to be Toksvig’s dining room, tucking into duck, broccoli, roast potatoes and red cabbage. “Sandi makes a mean roast duck.”
Rather brilliantly, Leith then poked fun at the time she accidentally revealed the GBBO winner several hours early.
“Forgot to tag #sanditokswig, #noelfielding, #paulhollywood but then I’m no good at Twitter am I??” she asked. (This tweet is made even sweeter by the fact that she misspelled Toksvig’s surname and still didn’t succeed in tagging any of her fellow judges properly, but rather just turned their names into hashtags. Never change, Prue, you delightful treasure.)
If you’re wondering what kind of japes the GBBO judges get up to when they’re hanging out at home, we have answers for you, courtesy of Leith’s Instagram account.
“Paul’s prize of a marzipan pig (made by Noel) for finding the whole almond in Sandi’s Danish rice pudding,” she wrote.
Leith also posted a photo of herself and Mary Berry in very fetching matching aprons – although it’s not clear whether the original BBC Bake Off queen stopped by the Channel 4 crew’s Christmas dinner.
“My favourite pic,” Leith wrote. “We’ve both promised to wear the aprons to cook the Christmas dinner.”
The eighth series of The Great British Bake Off received positive reviews and strong viewing figures, despite initial concerns about whether fans would embrace the new judges and Channel 4’s format.
A ninth series featuring Leith, Hollywood, Fielding and Toksvig is now in the works. If you want to apply to take part, you can do so via the GBBO website. The deadline is Sunday 7 January 2018 – so don’t delay.
