When Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry found herself the target of an attack from an internet troll, she delivered a masterclass in laughing off a rude remark on social media, and leaving the comments in style.

Let us count the ways we love Halle Berry: kickass actress, domestic violence survivor, fearless #TimesUp activist - all round legend. Truly, if there’s any woman who knows a thing or two about standing up and reclaiming your time, it’s her.

To that list we can now add the honour of Clapback Queen, after the Oscar-winning actress delivered a masterclass in shutting down an internet troll.

It all started when Berry posted an Instagram photo of a butterfly, celebrating the beauty of nature, as one does.

The X Men actor posted a closeup of a butterfly perched on her fingertips. “Today I was touched by an angel,” she wrote in the caption, alongside the hashtag #SpiritAnimal.

Sadly, one troll took the opportunity to leave a nasty comment about something else entirely: Berry’s hands.

“The hands of a construction worker,” the troll commented, complete with an emoji of a man in a hard hat.

Berry rose above the pettiness like a true queen though, and responded to the nasty comment in the best way possible. That is to say, with a good dose of humour.

“I knew somebody was gonna crack on the [hands],” she wrote, alongside three laughing emojis.

Other followers turned up to show their solidarity for the star.

“@halleberry I see a beautiful hand that has attracted the most beautiful of Gods creatures. Your authentic expression and artistry is your gift. Thank you and much love,” one follower wrote.

“@halleberry more like a hard working woman hands that are beautiful,” another commented.

Berry left no further comment, and rightly so, because no-one’s got time to engage with trolls who insist on tearing you down. But her self-deprecating response is an epic masterclass in laughing off a rude comment in social media, and leaving the comments in style.
