Halsey knew exactly what to say to Miley Cyrus’ homophobic Twitter troll

Halsey’s been flexing her female friendship muscles again, delivering a brilliant response to a prejudice troll who said no one should “date bi people” because they are “greedy”.
When it comes to gossip surrounding celebrity’s relationships we will never really know the truth behind a situation, and really, why should we? It has nothing to do with anybody other than the people in that relationship. But alas, that doesn’t stop people talking about it, theorising over what’s happened and of course, sharing their opinions - no matter how uninformed they are.
So it’s inevitable that when two people as famous as Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth announce their separation, the world, media outlets and platforms like Twitter go into overdrive guessing the cause and details behind it.
There have been many rumours circulating about the separation online, most of which appear to have gone unnoticed by Cyrus and her friends. That is, until one Twitter user took criticism of the singer to a new level and accused the whole of the bisexual community of being “greedy.”
Twitter user @theTigerbob wrote: “#MileyCyrus splitting and allegedly cheating on Liam with a woman confirms that you shouldn’t date bi people. Not offensive, just true. Bi is greedy and never satisfied.”
Oh, don’t worry guys, it’s not offensive. Just a monumentally broad, untrue and homophobic statement that damns people with a bi-sexual orientation as undate-able.
Clearly, we’re not the only ones enraged by this dangerous and regressive statement. Singer Halsey replied to @theTigerbob’s tweet, exposing the social media user’s misogyny with an admirable amount of class and coolness.
“Hey tigerbob. Doesn’t surprise me that you’re saying this and your page has you crying about Brie Larson too! Stop being afraid of women who aren’t afraid to do what pleases them and not other people :-),” Halsey writes, referencing Larson as not only an outspoken feminist, but an advocate for promoting opportunities for all minorities.
Although most of the Twittersphere (we assume) goes by undetected by the famous people at the centre of it, we love that Halsey refused to let this one slide, not only defending Cyrus but importantly putting a stop to a horrendously homophobic message.
Unfortunately this isn’t nearly the end of speculation around Cyrus and Hemsworth’s split, with the actor posting an image of a sunset on Instagram today (13 August) to confirm that he won’t be making any statements about the relationship and all quotes that have so far been attributed to him are false.
We hope that from this point both Cyrus and Hemsworth get the space to deal with the status of their relationship in whatever way works best for them.
