The groom is Prince Phillip’s godson, the bride wore lace bunny ears and guests included Christian Louboutin and a Game of Thrones star; welcome to the society wedding of the year.

The wedding of Ashley Hicks, second cousin to the Prince of Wales, and American socialite Kata de Solis was anything but ordinary.

Given the way they met however, that was probably always going to be a given.

The pair were first introduced on Instagram in May this year, by high profile illustrator Donald Robertson, a mutual friend.

After some direct messaging they got engaged in June (wait until you see the ring), and planned the wedding to take place just four months after their initial introduction.

Art History buff Hicks popped the question by presenting de Solis, who is now managing director at an advertising agency after previously working for Chanel, with a gold and ruby ring shaped like a snake's head, created by designer Solange Azagury-Partridge.

Guests at the wedding included Robertson, who was best man, shoe designer Christian Louboutin (of course), Game of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie, Hicks’ sister India who was one of Princess Diana’s bridesmaids, plus the groom’s two daughters Angelica and Ambrosia.

The ceremony took place in the huge garden of Hicks’ Oxfordshire home among plenty of homemade props, while an Indian style marquee was erected for the reception.

To match her white lace jumpsuit de Solis donned a sequin veil complete with bunny ears, while at one point her groom dressed up as a chicken (an inside joke).

There was a naked woman in body paint, DIY decorations and everyone laughed as Angelica Hicks pushed her new stepmother’s face into the homemade chocolate wedding cake.

Take a look at a few pictures from what appears to be a fantastically unique day…
