Jameela Jamil has shut down weight loss nonsense – again.
Since Jameela Jamil launched ‘I Weigh’ – a brilliant Instagram account that wants women to “feel valuable and see how amazing we are, and look beyond the flesh on our bones” – she’s actively called out any form of media that shames women.
From slamming a magazine for body shaming women in its editorial to encouraging Twitter users to unfollow celebrities who document their “weight-loss journeys”, Jamil hasn’t held back.
Now, the Good Place actress has shown she has no time for celebrities endorsing laxative products to aid weight loss, too.
Over the weekend, Cardi B shared a video on Instagram encouraging her fans to buy ‘detox tea’ from Teami Blends, claiming the product had helped her to get her “momma bear bod right”. The singer even provided a discount code for people to use, too.
Taking to Twitter, Jamil called out the singer for her endorsement and body shaming women.
“They got Cardi B on the laxative nonsense ‘detox tea’ tea,” Jamil tweeted. “GOD I hope all these celebrities all s**t their pants in public, the way the poor women who buy this nonsense upon their recommendation do. Not that they actually take this s**t. They just flog it because they need MORE MONEY.”
The actress advised people instead eat “nutritious natural vegetable soup” and “talk to a trainer/doctor”.
People, including Stylist, can’t praise Jamil’s comments enough.
The actress also took aim on Instagram at Flat Tummy Co for “preying on women” after Thanksgiving celebrations.
It’s not the first time the actress has called out the company and its ‘weight-loss products’. Earlier this year, Jamil called out Kim Kardashian for endorsing lollipops that claim to be appetite suppressants.
Before the year ends, why not get involved with I Weigh too? You can read more about it here.
