Jamie Oliver and his wife Jools have announced the birth of their fifth child – a boy, weighing-in at a healthy 8lbs.
The 41-year-old celebrity chef announced the birth of their latest offspring via a photograph on Instagram in the early hours of Monday morning, along with the excited caption:
“And then this just happened guys !! IT'S A BABY BOY !! Everyone in the Oliver family is very surprised and beyond happy.”
Oliver also congratulated his wife, Jools, for her bravery, and gave an insight into how the family celebrated at the hospital, with his two eldest daughters even cutting the umbilical cord:
“He arrived safely, mum / @joolsoliver was really really amazing, unbelievably composed, natural birth and my two eldest Girls got to come in at the very end as the baby was born which was amazing to witness very very emotional.”
The new addition to the family turns the Oliver brood of four into five – a brother for Poppy Honey Rosie, 14, Daisy Boo Pamela, 12, Petal Blossom Rainbow, six and Buddy Bear Maurice, five.
Although Oliver also mentioned in his Instagram post that the pair have yet to choose a name for their son:
“8 lbs ( that's 16 packs of butter for you bakers out there) anyway were all hitting the hay it's been a long day big love... bless a little baby boy Woop Woop !!!! And love to all you mums out there how amazing you are it blows my mind .... Big love jamie o p.s no baby names yet.”
Oliver later posted a second photo: a selfie with his newborn, and the caption: "Morning Son ..... I can't imagine I'll ever take a better selfie, he's so sweet. Big love guys Jox X X X X X thanks for all your good wishes I really appreciate them X x"
Jools also shared a photo of herself and her new son on Instagram, saying:
“Little baby boy Oliver has arrived we are so very happy, blessed, grateful and totally in love all over again and so very proud of our two eldest daughters who cut the cord Jamie was my hero (no name yet)!!! XXXX”
Despite the baby boy's lack of moniker, we can expect something pretty special, given the pair’s track record.
The news comes mere months after the chef told chat show host Alan Carr he had been considering a vasectomy – although had changed his mind on account of his squeamishness and his wife not being keen.
