Last night's Golden Globe awards brought a few surprises. That said, no one was shocked at Eddie Redmayne winning best actor in a motion picture, drama category for his role as Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything, or that Amy Adams won for the best actress in a motion picture, comedy for her role in Big Eyes.
Disappointments of the night included Gone Girl, which was nominated for four awards but came away with nothing. Similarly, The Imitation Game was nominated for five awards also came away empty-handed.
Highlights of the night included Julianne Moore winning the best actress in a motion picture, drama, in Still Alice, for her portrayal of a woman with early onset dementia, Wes Anderson delivering a funny speech about the Hollywood Foreign Press Association as he accepted his best film for a comedy award for The Grand Budapest Hotel, and Michael Keaton, who won best actor in a motion picture, comedy, for Birdman becoming emotional (it was very sweet) as he accepted his award.
