So far Lawrence’s post has amassed 93,000 likes with thousands more shares and comments. Some fans of the actor have been keen to express their support for her message, agreeing that the Versace dress in question is too gorgeous to cover up.

One Facebook user commented: “*immediately goes to find beautiful Versace gown*

“That dress deserves to be shown off if you want to show it off Jennifer Lawrence - and you did - loud proud and beautifully.

“Wear what you want the way you want - we all should - and everyone should just mind to themselves - so they can focus on wearing what they want the way they want.”

Another social media user wrote: “I love Jennifer Lawrence. I think she is so down-to-earth and she’s right, it is her choice what she wears, regardless of the weather. Leave her to dress how she wants.”

But there were some that argued that by addressing the publicity her outfit had received, Lawrence was adding fuel to the fire and further distracting from more important issues.

“You don’t have to attend every argument you are invited to. Js. This is ridiculous on both sides. First that it was said and then second you took the time to address it. I’m sure there are more pressing matters today,” said another Facebooker.

At least one thing’s for sure, the internet never need doubt that J-Law’s wardrobe choices are all her own again.
