Judy Greer and Jennifer Garner first met on the set of 13 Going on 30. Fifteen years later, and their friendship is stronger than ever.

Sometimes we like to imagine that the best friend duos from our favourite films and TV shows actually translate into real life. Like Monica and Rachel from Friends: nothing brings us more celebrity-fuelled joy than the knowledge that Jennifer Anniston and Courteney Cox have got each other’s backs.

So, it’s really no surprise that seeing the lead characters of classic Noughites chick flick, 13 Going on 30, get back together to wax lyrical about their love for each other, has warmed our hearts to toasty temperatures.

It’s been a whopping 14 years since Jennifer Garner played Jenna in the film, who woke up on the day after her thirteenth birthday as a 30 year old woman. But while she was learning how to walk the walk as a magazine editor and ditch her narcissistic boyfriend for her first love, who was there by her side? Her best friend Lucy, of course, played by Judy Greer.

The pair were an acting match made in heaven, with Garner’s sweetness balanced out perfectly by Greer’s touch of sass. And now they’ve made a joint appearance in celebration of Garner’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star, speaking about what a wonderful friendship they have.

Taking to the stage to congratulate her friend, Greer said: “15 years ago, someone paid me to be Jennifer Garner’s best friend. In Hollywood it’s next to impossible to stay in touch with someone after you finish a job because it’s like Summer camp: you get so close, so fast, but real life happens after you wrap. And even with the best of intentions, life takes over and we all kind of scatter.

“But from the minute I met JG at our first rehearsal for 13 Going on 30, I knew that I really didn’t want that to happen. I was and I still am so inspired by her devotion to her girl friends, and I’m so lucky to be one of them.”

She continued to praise her for being the “greatest, most loyal friend, an incredible mother, an amazing chef, an amateur farmer and bee keeper, so beautiful, and so stinking smart.”

Well, if that isn’t a fantastic example of how female friendship can lift us up, we don’t know what is. Here’s to talking about the women we love in our lives, like Greer talks about Garner.
