Kate Moss is to make a guest appearance in David Walliams' BBC One Christmas special The Boy in the Dress

The 40-year-old supermodel will play herself in the family comedy, which is the first children's book by 43-year-old comedian Walliams, written in 2008. It follows the success of TV film versions of his books Gangsta Granny and Mr Stink

Kate will make her cameo alongside the show's cast including Jennifer Saunders, Meera Syal and Blackadder's Tim McInnerny. The story is based around 12-year-old protagonist Dennis, who after buying Vogue, wonders whether he can fool his classmates by turning up to school in a dress.

"We have put together a dream cast for this the first of my children’s books. and for many still my best," says Walliams. "It is a funny and poignant story about what is is to be different. I hope it will make everyone who sees it, young and old, stop and think."

Filming for the festive special is already underway.

Walliams and Moss are close friends and have appeared on TV before together, in a 2013 Comic Relief show. Moss is also pals with Walliams' wife, the model Lara Stone.

Moss' cameo comes as she hit the sofa alongside Noel Gallagher and Naomi Campbell earlier this month, in a celebrity special of Channel 4's hit reality TV show Gogglebox

"The sketch will help to raise money for charity and Kate is good friends with Noel and Naomi. When she knew she would have them by her side she did not hesitate to agree," an insider on the show said at the time.
