Leah Remini, who co-hosts Scientology and the Aftermath – the documentary series which profiles ex- Scientologists like Remini herself, and the manner in which they are shunned and targeted by the church – has claimed that Katie Holmes could lose custody of her daughter should she attempt to rekindle her friendship with Remini.

“Trust me, Katie’s not allowed to have a meal with me, and we used to be close friends,” Remini told LaPalme magazine.

“She could lose custody of Suri. It’s quite sick, really.”

Holmes famously married Tom Cruise, who is a Scientologist, in November 2006, just months after the birth of their daughter, Suri.

When Holmes filed for divorce in June 2012, though, she was granted primary custody of Suri – who reportedly hasn’t seen her father in over four years.

However, it is not just Holmes that Remini claims she is no longer allowed to make contact with: the actress previously stated that her childhood friend, Elisabeth Moss (who plays June in The Handmaid’s Tale) is similarly not allowed to talk to her.

She said simply: “Elisabeth believes that she can’t talk to me.”

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Remini continued: “There’s a thing in Scientology called ‘acceptable truth.’ It means you only say what’s acceptable to the public.”
