Fashion designer Mary-Kate Olsen wed French banker Olivier Sarkozy in an intimate ceremony in Manhattan last Friday, US Weekly magazine has revealed.

The wedding was so private that guests were required to hand in their mobile phones before entering, according to the publication, although a few details have begun to emerge of the night.

The pair tied the knot in a secret location on 49th street in New York, with 50 of their closest friends and family in attendance, including both sets of their parents.

The event sounds every bit as cool and kooky as we would expect from one half of the Olsen duo, with cocktails served outside in a private garden decorated with bowls and bowls of cigarettes that guests smoked "all night long", according to Page Six. The guests were also served dinner inside the location, presumably to ward off the bitter November weather.

Olsen, 29, shot to fame in the eighties alongside twin sister Ashley in the US sitcom Full House, and the stylish pair now own two fashion labels, The Row and Elizabeth and James. The star has been dating Sarkozy, 46, who has two children from his former marriage, for three years.

The banker, who is half brother to former French president Nicolas Sarkozy, reportedly first proposed to Olsen in 2013 according to US Weekly, although the pair did not become engaged until February 2014. Olsen's engagement ring was a four carat vintage Cartier diamond ring that Sarkozy bought for a reported $81,250 (around £54,150) and we bet their wedding bands will be equally spectacular.
