A Chilean artist has kept five years worth of menstrual blood and displayed it for her latest exhibition.
An art school graduate from Valparaíso, Carina Úbeda Chacana unveiled her collection, called 'Cloths', at the Center of Culture and Health in Quillota last week.
The installation consists of 90 used rags that Úbeda has collected over the last five years, each of which are embroidered with words, such as discard and destroyed.
Apparently, Carina cannot wear normal sanitary towels because she has an allergic reaction and she decided to keep her rags because she thought she'd do something with them one day.
Despite the fact that each of the cloths has been sprayed with a disinfectant, so there are no odors, that hasn't stopped visitors from sniffing them.
What do you think? Is this art?
