In Sex and the City, Charlotte famously summed up our feelings on true love when she tentatively asked her friends if they would be her soulmates.
“Maybe we could be each other's soul mates,” she said, to Carrie, Samantha, and Miranda. “And then we could let men be just these great nice guys to have fun with.”
For years, those words have stuck with us – and it seems as if they struck a chord with Michelle Williams, too.

The Academy Award nominee recently attended a New York screening of her latest movie, Manchester by the Sea. And, obviously, she invited her “forever friend” Busy Philipps.
Williams and Phillips first met on the set of Dawson’s Creek way back in 2000 – and have been firm friends ever since.
“I’m here with my best friend,” Williams told People, referring to Phillips as her date. “I’m so in love with her.”
Williams added: “She’s proof that the love of your life does not have to be a man! That’s the love of my life right there.”

Phillips, meanwhile, took to Instagram to share a photo of herself with Williams at the event.
She captioned it: “Went to support my sweet bff Michelle at her new movie tonight and got a whole plate of mini crab cakes smushed into me at the after party! THIS IS WHO I AM.”
And, in a bid to capture the unstoppable force of their friendship, Phillips also posted a hilarious 2001 throwback photo of the pair alongside a more grownup and glamorous shot of them at Sunday’s screening.
“2001/2016,” she captioned it, adding: “I love that we almost always stand on the same side of each other. Also, can I just say-we aren't at a costume party in 2001. That's legit how we were dressed for a regular night out. I guess I really was my character from Cougartown?
“And thank God my eyebrows grew back.”

Not only are the two often one another's dates on the red carpet for events like the Tony Awards and the like, but they often enjoy holidays together, protect one another from prying tabloid paparazzi, and post endless selfies.
Philipps is also godmother to Williams' daughter Matilda, whose father is the late Heath Ledger.
Talk about #friendshipgoals, eh?
