Following her huge night at the VMAs 2019, Missy Elliott took part in a Twitter Q&A — and now we know everything there is to know about the musician.
The world is officially obsessed with Missy Elliott after her epic VMAs performance earlier this week. The musician, who has worked in the industry for over 20 years, picked up the coveted Vanguard award following her live set of hits including Get Ur Freak On, Lose Control and Work It. In her acceptance speech, she dedicated her career to the dancers who have supported her over the years. Delivering us the perfect lesson in how hard work pays off, Elliott added: “I have worked diligently for over two decades. I never thought I’d be standing up here… it don’t go unnoticed, the support and love you’ve shown me over the years.”
So fans were very excited when Elliott took part in a Twitter Q&A on Wednesday (28 August). She answered the questions we didn’t even know we needed to ask, revealing absolutely everything there is to know about the star.
People wanted to get all the details, including Elliott’s dream collaborations, best songs to perform live and… erm, favourite fruit (someone’s got to ask, right?).
Let’s take a look at what happened during the Q&A…
So, here’s what we know following the Q&A:
We need the collaboration between Elliott and Rihana to happen. Like, now.
We also need Elliott to star in the next Marvel film, preferably as Storm’s new sidekick.
And we won’t be satisfied in life until we get our chops around a veggie roll at the Sunflower Cafe in Atlanta.
Oh, and can someone please call Angela Bassett about narrating the next big biopic?
Elliott’s influence on the music industry has been profound. Not only has she amassed 30 million records worldwide over the course of her career, but she’s also a five-time Grammy Award winner. She also became the first female hip-hop artist to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and remains the only female rapper to have six studio albums certified platinum.
What will she do next? Enjoy some watermelon while listening to Lizzo, probably. And we hope she enjoys every second.
