It’s safe to say that the world has felt the absence of Barack and Michelle Obama in the White House. Every time they pop back into the public eye, we feel a rush of joy coupled with a please-save-us desperation, not unlike children who have been left for too long with a cruel and irresponsible babysitter.

And so we were delighted to hear the news that the pair are in talks to create a series of shows with Netflix. According to The New York Times, the former president and first lady are discussing the possibility of a “production partnership”, where they would either appear onscreen or work behind the scenes as producers.

The talks are reportedly ongoing, with no deal yet on the table. In one potential show, Barack Obama would moderate conversations about subjects that dominated his presidency, such as healthcare and climate change. Another proposal would see Michelle Obama discussing topics that she focused on during her time as first lady, such as nutrition.

Alternatively, the former president might produce a show about “uplifting American stories”, according to CNN.
