Since filing for divorce in 2017, Anna Faris and Chris Pratt have both repeatedly been the subject of baseless ‘new romance’ rumours. Now, Olivia Munn has been unwittingly dragged into this narrative – and she decided to set the record straight in the best possible way.
It’s a long-perpetuated myth that women absolutely cannot get along: in fact, for as long as we can remember, we’ve seen women in the spotlight dogged by catfight rumours.
Don’t believe us? Cast your mind back to the media’s coverage of the all-female Ghostbusters remake, or Sex and the City, or Ocean’s 8, or Snow White and the Huntsman, or, ya know, any film with a predominantly female cast: all were unfairly accused of on-set squabbling, all were forced to issue denials.
And it seems women cannot get away from this tired old narrative, even when it comes to their personal lives.
ET recently reported that Chris Pratt and Olivia Munn were spotted enjoying a “totally romantic” dinner date together – and many took this to mean that his soon-to-be ex-wife Anna Faris would be all-consumed with jealousy and rage.
However, Munn has since taken to Instagram stories to share a number of home truths with her followers, which read as follows:
- Not every woman is scorned and upset after a breakup.
- Not every woman is ‘furious’ at another woman for dating her ex.
- So even if I was dating @prattprattpratt, some tabloids got me and @annafaris all wrong.
- Women respect and love each other a lot more than some people like to think.
- Chris and I would have a horrible celebrity name: Crolivia, Prunn, Chrisivia, Olipratt.
Munn also wanted to shed light on the fact that she and Faris know one another, and she doesn’t want anyone to think there’s “bad blood” between the two.
To do this, she decided to post a screengrab of a recent text conversation she had shared with the Mom star.
“Hey there!” Munn’s message to Faris begins.
“Sooo… I would never respond to random tabloid stories, but since we know each other I wanted to reach out to you personally to tell you the story about me and Chris dating has 0% truth. I’m sure you already know it’s not true, or maybe didn’t care either way, but I just wanted to reach out personally to tell you it’s not true.
“Anyway, I hope you had an amazing holiday and an even better 2018.”
Munn also shared Faris’ response, which read: “Hi!!!! Oh my god, this town is so f**king crazy.
“You are so sweet to text, I love you. Having said that, if you were my new sister in law I would be thrilled!
“Let’s please catch up soon.”
Faris recently confirmed that she and Pratt have remained firm friends since their split and that both believe co-parenting is “hugely important”.
“We are great and there’s so much friendship and love, and we surround Jack with love, and funny, kind, happy people, and as a result, he is really happy,” she said.
