Who was chosen as a plus one for the hottest ticket in town?
From mums and sons to loved-up duos, last night's Oscars ceremony was brimming with the familial affection of lovers, children, husbands and siblings.
These people have made the sacrifices - the late nights, the childcare cover, the fielding of panicked on-set phone calls - in order for their loved ones to nurture blossoming movie careers. They've been there every step of the way and last night was the stars' turn to say thank you, in the form of a coveted spot on the Oscars red carpet.
Sienna chose her father, Edwin, to accompany her past the aisle of photographers, while Patricia Arquette celebrated her best supporting actress win for Boyhood with her sister Rosanna in tow. Adorably, Idris Elba brought his teenage daughter along to hob nob with the great and good of Hollywood.
Some of our favourite couples also hit the ceremony, with body language that offered up a tantalizing glimpse into their relationships. Justin Theroux and Jennifer Aniston are clearly still in the throes of romance, as they exchanged a series of beaming smiles, while David Burtka touchingly helped his new husband (and Oscars host) Neil Patrick Harris with his bow tie.
Scarlett Johansson and Romain Dauriac shook off new-parent exhaustion remarkably well to put in a striking appearance, while Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher - expecting their third child - looked sweet together at the Vanity Fair after-party:
Edwin and Sienna Miller
Sienna brings her dad, Edwin, along to mark a momentous year in film for the 33-year-old American Sniper star.
Idris Elba and his daughter Isan
Idris Elba takes his 14-year-old daughter, Isan, along for what must surely be a teenager's ultimate night out.
"Daddy Daughter time #Oscars Love you Iss" he wrote, in a touching post on Instagram.
Melanie Griffith and Dakota Johnson
It's a case of like mother, like daughter with Melanie Griffith and her daughter, Fifty Shades actress Dakota Johnson.
Bruce and Laura Dern
Bruce and Laura Dern make it a family affair on the Oscars red carpet.
Laura was up for an Oscar for her role in Wild (she lost out to Patricia Arquette), while Bruce was nominated at the ceremony last year for his performance in Nebraska.
Rosanna Arquette and Patricia Arquette
A formidable sister act.
Patricia Arquette has her older sister, Rosanna, in tow to help celebrate her best supporting actress win for Boyhood.
Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman
Mr and Mrs Kidman put on a united front, as ever.
Hannah Bagshawe and Eddie Redmayne
These two are as sweet as ever, both in Alexander McQueen.
Eddie tributed his new wife when he later won the best actor Oscar for The Theory of Everything.
Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka
The sharpest dressers in town...
Newlywed Oscars host Neil and his husband make an early appearance on the Oscars red carpet.
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend
You can just tell that Oscars night with this couple is going to be a lot of fun.
Peter and Lupita Nyong'o
Lupita Nyong'o's date is her brother, Peter.
He's something of a red carpet pro, having landed a place in Ellen DeGeneres' infamous internet-breaking selfie at last year's Oscars.
Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter
The newly engaged parents-to-be make a gorgeous match.
Ryan Piers Williams and America Ferrera
A husband and wife team who look remarkably happy together, in a low-key kind of way.
Justin Theroux and Jennifer Aniston
Engaged duo Jen 'n Justin are evidently still very much in the honeymoon phase.
Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan
Say hi to the smoothest red carpet duo around.
Ansel Elgort and Grethe Barrett Holby
"MY MOM IS MY DATE! So excited for the OSCARS!" reads an adorable post from 20-year-old Fault In Our Stars actor Ansel Elgort on Instagram.
His mum, Grethe Barrett Holby, knows a bit about the industry as she's a producer herself.
Joe Manganiello and Sofia Vergara
Hollywood's hottest couple du jour arrive at the Vanity Fair after-party.
Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher
These two are expecting their third child together; and look fabulous for it.
Scarlett Johansson and Romain Dauriac
These two take a break from the nappy routine with baby daughter Rose, to put in a striking appearance on the Oscars red carpet.
Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger
We'd be hard-pushed to find a photo where this pair are not looking completely smitten.
