Ryan Atwood in The O.C., Pacey Witter from Dawson's Creek and Harvey from Sabrina the Teenage Witch all have one thing in common - they were the classic go-to hunks from our favourite cult TV shows.

But what about the people we fancied who we never dared admit to our friends? Here, we've polled the office and unearthed 10 weird TV crushes that we all share. We know you won't judge us because you see it too.

Spike, Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Best quote: "Well I don't want to be this good looking and athletic. We all have crosses to bear."

Weird crush factor: 7/10

Look, we know that Buffy ends up in a weird sadomasochistic  relationship with the platinum-haired Brit eventually (if this is a spoiler, catch up, the show ended over 10 years ago), but he wasn't always so attractive to the Chosen One. Initially, Spike comes to Sunnydale as an adversary of Angel's, with his strange girlfriend Drusilla, in a bid to take down Buffy and the Scoobies. He's all kinds of evil and has a reputation that includes having killed not one but two slayers already, although thankfully he never gets to Miss Summers. However, once he was captured by The Initiative and has a chip embedded in him, rendering him unable to attack humans, things got much more interesting. After Buffy gets brought back from the dead, they begin a love affair and we started to see Spike as a serious contender for Buffy's heart. Sorry Angel.

Sandy Cohen, The O.C.

Best quote: on foreplay - "The appetizer is as good as the main course."

Weird crush factor: 4/10

There were more than two men living under the Cohen's roof, and none were more sexy than dad Sandy. While we might not have seen it initially, what with us ogling moody Ryan or geeky Seth, later viewings of The O.C. revealed that Sandy was easily the best-looking chap around. He was funny, an attentive husband and he could also surf. Oh and did we mention that he's got a heart of gold and was always up for fighting the good fight. Weirdly, it was probably though incredible eyebrows that really swung it for us. Kirsten Cohen was a lucky woman.

Salem, Sabrina the Teenage Witch

Best quote: "Friday the 13th is quickly becoming my least favorite day of the year."

Weird crush factor: 9/10

Yeah, OK, a cat is a bit weird to include in this list but who cares, if it's true. Salem Saberhagen was a 500-year-old witch who was sentenced to spend 100 years as a cat by the Witches Council as punishment for attempting to take over the world. He was sent to live with Hilda Spellman because she supported his regime as a part of the refreshments committee. But what makes him so attractive? Well, it's probably that he gets the most deadpan lines and is easily the most intelligent of the lot. Essentially, it's his brains that we find attractive. Fun fact: he's originally from Mars.

Rickie Vasquez, My So-Called Life

Best quote: "You don't get noticed. You blend in. Unlike me, who basically never will."

Weird crush factor: 5/10

With his trademark military jacket, eyeliner and hooped earrings, Rickie Vasquez was anything but a conventional crush. And, from the early days of cult series My So-Called Life, it was fairly obvious this would be an unrequited (fantasy) affair. And yet that didn’t stop us. In a world of identikit, archetypal, sappy men, Angela’s beloved Rickie was a breath of fresh air. Straight talking yet unapologetically vulnerable, supportive yet assertive when the occasion required and – above all - fiercely protective of his friends, Rickie was everything we were after in a man. While walls of teens across the UK were adorned with posters of Jordan Castalano, the real hero of this epic series was Vasquez. And while the relationship between Angela and the flaky, foppish Jordan fell apart, Rickie was the man she turned to for strength, wisdom and love. A valuable lesson, for every teenage girl, on the power of friendship over all else.

Peter Becker, Friends

Best quote: on becoming the Ultimate Fighting Champion - "One day, kids will wonder who'd win in a fight: me or Superman. Of course I can't beat Superman, but you know, kids are stupid."

Weird crush factor: 7/10

Post-Richard and Pre-Chandler, Monica ended up dating millionaire Pete Becker. To start, Monica doesn't fancy Pete, which is a bit of a blow to him because he's in love with her. But then when he comes back from one of his many travels (he's a millionaire, he does that sort of stuff), he admits to Monica that he's started dating someone new, so she can now go work in the restaurant he's just bought as his head chef. Monica, being uncharacteristically gullible here, goes along to see his new purchase and ends up kissing him. And lo and behold she discovers that he's a total dreamboat, which begs the question, just how good was that kiss?

Karl Kennedy, Neighbours

Best quote: Karl - "No, no, this won't take long". Susan - "Not really what a woman wants to hear Karl"

Weird crush factor: 8/10

Throughout his tenure in the long-running Australian soap, Dr Karl Kennedy has got around a bit. Sure, his true love is wife Susan but there were moments when his eye went wandering. First there was Sarah, his beautiful receptionist, who he snogged and had an affair with, leading to Susan to slap him across the face and throw him out. Then there was Izzy who lied about carrying his baby. But then months later, after he and Susan had rekindled their love, Izzy did give birth to his child, at the rather inopportune moment as he and Susan were getting married again. On a boat. In London. With Neil Morrissey playing the vicar (just roll with it, there are stranger Neighbours storylines than that). But if you still need convincing, how about the fact that Karl was practically a rock star with his band The Right Prescription. Just what the doctor ordered, indeed.

Jamie Collier, As If

Best quote: on putting best mate rob to bed after he gets too drunk - "not quite what I had in mind. I had hoped to be undressing someone tonight, obviously. But not Rob."

Weird crush factor: 4/10

You'd be forgiven for not remembering As If's Jamie. He was, after all, only part of a TV show that aired between 2001 and 2004. But for those of you who do remember you'll know that it was a cult hit in the UK. The London-based drama followed six young adults who were friends, and each episode was from a different character's point of view. Jamie was the lovable joker of the group, who was obsessed with Nicki (played by Jemima Rooper) but eventually fell for best friend Sooz. His sweet and attentive nature with her and his heartbreak over her made us want him to be our boyfriend.

Niles Crane, Frasier

Best quote: on Daphne - "Why did you have to hire Venus herself? Couldn't you have found some beefy, East-European scrub woman who reeked of ammonia?"

Weird crush factor: 6/10

Don't look at us like that. And don't tell us you've never fancied at least one of the Crane brothers. Thing is, while most opt for the obvious Frasier, we always had our eye on Niles. He was less egotistical, although admittedly that wasn't saying much, and he was loyal. But it was really his enduring unrequited love for Daphne that really made us fall for him. And then in season 7 when they finally got together, we cheered along.

Rafael, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Best quote: "You don’t flirt with the enemy Leo. You take them down!"

Weird crush factor: 11/10

For many born in the 80s, TMNT was the only cartoon you needed to watch. The reason why this carton was so attractive? Because he was witty and sarcastic, plus he was a mutant turtle, with karate skills who could fight off numerous baddies, such as the evil Shredder. Oh, and he really likes pizza, so you can eat your favourite food without ever feeling judged.

Vinnie, Home and Away

Best quote: "The V-Man never says die"

Weird crush factor: 3/10

A joker, Vinnie wasn't like the other hunks in Summer Bay. He was also a bit of a trouble-maker. While there were a few other guys who were probably better looking and more romantic, it was when he fell for Leah that we realised his potential. The episode when he dresses up as a bear as a kid's party entertainer was easily the most heartbreaking Home and Away ever. Oh, and if you're wondering why he looks familiar it's because actor Ryan Kwanten's been playing Jason Stackhouse in True Blood for the past seven years.
