It's been 20 years since Demi Moore posed naked and pregnant on the cover of Vanity Fair. Although controversial when it originally hit newsstands, Annie Liebowitz's cover paved the way for women to celebrate their pregnant bodies - and a whole host of copycat celebrity covers followed suit. From Monica Bellucci taking a stand against Italian politics to Sienna Miller's naked portrait for artist Jonathan Yeo, we've taken a retrospective look at the shoots inspired by Demi's now-iconic pose.

  • Sienna Miller, Jonathan Yeo (2012)

Painted a few weeks before the birth of her baby Marlowe, this portrait of Sienna Miller by artist Jonathan Yeo was created for the forthcoming (I’ve Got You) Under My Skin exhibition at the Circle Culture Gallery in Berlin. In the exhibition catalogue, Yeo noted

"It has been 22 years since a pregnant Demi Moore caused uproar by posing for Annie Leibovitz on the cover of Vanity Fair...yet certain sections of society are still uncomfortable with the appearance of pregnancy and images of naked expectant mothers are rarely seen. The power of the painting partly lies in the fact that Sienna is widely regarded as being one of the most naturally beautiful actresses in the world as well as being a fashion icon to a generation of girls. It is a tribute to her courage and self-confidence that she agreed to sit for this"
