In March 2019, Stylist is set to celebrate the trailblazing women of the moment with our inaugural Remarkable Women Awards, in partnership with philosophy.

Our gala event will celebrate women from all walks of life, and we need your help to do this. We want to shed a light on the women making a meaningful difference to their communities and want your nominations for our Inspiration of the Year award. We’re looking for Britain’s most extraordinary unsung heroes who have gone above and beyond to change the lives of women in their community. Perhaps a friend, family member or co-worker springs to mind: someone who’s instigating real change in her world.

Perhaps the hardest task will be choosing who to nominate. For example, how did you feel when Gina Martin, the 27-year-old activist behind the anti-upskirting campaign, came blazing into public consciousness, demanding the act to be legally defined as a sexual offence? She put her case forward on TV, social media and in parliament, and at Stylist, we were pretty damn impressed. What about Kate Clanchy, the secondary school teacher who shares her pupils’ poetry on family, loneliness and identity on Twitter, and in doing so is improving understanding of the experiences of immigrant children? Or maybe Sharmaine Lovegrove, the publisher behind Dialogue Books, an imprint ensuring that the books we read represent the diverse world we actually live in by pushing stories written by minority groups? And they’re just the women we know about.
