Rihanna’s Don’t Stop The Music was famously heralded as “an amazing bit of euroclub insanity combined with synth and bass” when it first hit the charts back in 2008. Since then, the dance track has been a popular request at pretty much every nightclub, disco, party and wedding, and has been included in countless workout playlists, too.

Now, though, the song can boast the dubious honour of having been played at one of Donald Trump’s political rallies.

“It’s been said a million times, but here’s a million and one — Trump’s rallies are unlike anything else in politics,” tweeted political journalist Philip Rucker.

Describing the surreal scenes, he added: “Currently, Rihanna’s Don’t Stop the Music is blaring in Chattanooga as aides toss free Trump T-shirts into the crowd, like a ball game.

“Everyone’s loving it.”
