While some speculated Cara was perhaps unused to the repetitive nature of press junkets when promoting a new film internationally and cited her salary as a reason to feign enthusiasm for the task, others attacked Good Day Sacramento for asking "condescending" and "lazy" questions. And there's no denying that getting the name of one of the most famous supermodels of the moment wrong is not a good move.

Fellow celebrities, such as Jessie J and Game of Thrones Maisie Williams leapt to her defence, with Zach Braff replying to her Twitter message with "or how it's condescending to ask an actress if she's read the book."

Cara also retweeted someone who pointed out, "You get @Caradelevingne to give 'better answers' in this interview by asking better questions/saying her name right".

The topic was brought up on US show The View, where former child star Raven Symone sympathised, saying: “You know what she was mad at? She was mad she had to sit through 13 to 300 different people getting asked the same question over and over again [...] Every person has their [bad] day. You don't know if she's on her period".

But co-host Nicolle Wallace contended that stars have a duty to promote theirs films to each news outlet, and replied: "Then cancel the interview. I mean Condoleezza Rice ran the world and she's a woman but yes, if you're an actress and you're cranky, cancel the interview."
