Turner’s followers backed up her point with replies of support, with one social media user tweeting: “I appreciate those celebrities that speak out about it. There IS a stigma, and those who are not famous suffer the most from it.”

While another said: “I got the courage to speak up about my mental health issues because people, mainly celebrities, were talking about it. And even though some idiots think it‘s just for attention or don’t take it seriously, it really helped me to accept it as a part of me. “

Celebrities such as Ariana Grande, Nadiya Hussain and Sheridan Smith have spoken out about mental health difficulties such as anxiety and depression in the past, and in turn have helped to take away some of the shame that so many people tragically feel when talking about their own struggles.

Here’s to the women (and men) in the public eye, who continue to be brave enough to talk about their mental health and raise awareness while doing so.
