Ross and Rachel with their newborn baby in Friends

Once upon a time, baby Emma watched riveted as Rachel ‘n’ Ross sang her a lullaby of I Like Big Butts. Now, the actors behind the sitcom infant are hitting Hollywood in their own right

Aah, life.

It seems like moments ago since Rachel told Ross she was pregnant with his child (cue Ross’ outrage over the 3% condom they used).

And now their baby is all grown up…

It’s hard to believe but Noelle and Cali Sheldon, the twins who played Emma Geller-Green in Friends, are 16 years old.

The pair shared the role of Rachel and Ross’ baby in the series from 2003 until it ended one year later.

And now they’re on the brink of adulthood and ready to hit our screens once more.

Writing on Instagram this week (below), Noelle announced that she and her sister will be appearing in Jordan Peele-directed drama Us.

The film, slated for a March 2018 release, marks a major foray into Hollywood for the twins - and a distinguished one at that.

The casting sees them join a slew of heavyweight actors, including Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke and Elisabeth Moss.

Peele won an Oscar for his previous screenplay, Get Out. Not much is known about his new film, but it’s already being hailed as “provocative and thought-provoking”

A worthy debut, then, for Noelle and Cali, who have so far only acted in short films.

This blast from the past is the second nugget of Friends trivia to make us feel old in the past few days.

A sharp-eyed Twitter user also sparked disbelief recently when she revealed that Cole Sprouse, the child actor who played Ross’ son Ben, is now older than Jennifer Aniston was when she first appeared on the show in 1994 (he’s about to turn 26).

Pretty shocking, no?

As for the twins, they obviously can’t recall their role in Friends showbiz history, including hanging out with Aniston, Courteney Cox and other cast members backstage.

In fact, they weren’t even allowed to watch the show in full until they turned 13 years old.

“I don’t remember anything about being on the show, but I’ve seen the pictures,” said Cali in a previous interview.

“Everyone was really, really nice to Noelle and Cali, and treated them like little princesses on the set,” added their mum, Gretchen Carpenter.

“[Friends] filmed before a live audience, and Cali and Noelle would come out, and they would be waving and engaging with the live audience. It was a lot of fun.”

And on that note - it seems only right to end with one of our all-time favourite Friends moments…

Happy watching, all.
