No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you - Ashton Kutcher is now well and truly on the map in the UK.
Residents of Ashton Hayes in Cheshire, Ashton under Hill in Worcestershire, Ashton in South Northamptonshire and finally Ashton Keynes in Wiltshire, were left bemused when their villages became the first in the UK to be named after a celebrity – Hollywood actor Ashton Kutcher.
In the early hours, village signs were mysteriously changed to ‘Ashton Kutcher’, flowers beds sprang up spelling out the star’s name and local pubs were re-named the ‘Ashton Kutcher Arms’, serving 3.9% Ashton Kutcher Ale.
Surprisingly, the residents seemed quite keen for the Ashton takeover to stay put. Shopkeeper Tessa Mills, from Ashton Keynes said: “We're a bit light on celebrities in this village so actually, if we could have Ashton Kutcher as our own, that would be fantastic.”
After his tumultuous split from Demi Moore, the actor has encountered quite a bit of negative press – so was this the work of Ashton obsessives looking to clear the star’s name?
Sadly not (and neither has Ashton started adding English villages to his property portfolio). In fact, it was a prank staged by Comedy Central to celebrate the return of hit series Two and a Half Men. If you remember Ashton from his days on MTV, this is one 'Punk'd' prank he would be truly proud of.
Stunt it may be, but these rather random pictures still raised a smile in the Stylist office, so take a look, and imagine what would happen if celebrities really did take over the world…
