The Ghostbusters reboot hits cinema screens next summer, but director Paul Feig decided to treat us all to a preview ahead of schedule by sharing a world preview of the very first trailer on The Ellen DeGeneres Show today.

Our first proper glimpse of the all-female lead remake sees Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones all donning their boiler suits to tackle the spooks taking over New York City.

There’s out-of-control paranormal activity, green ghost gunk, the witty one-liners you'd expect, plus a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it entrance from Chris Hemsworth.

Ready to see the all-new team in action? Buckle up, here it is…

Aside from the casting differences, Feig has been keen to keep to the same feel and look of the original 1984 movie, which starred Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson as the ghost-busting line-up.

So just for nostalgia's sake – who doesn't love a good eighties flashback? – here's another look at the old-school trailer, too.
