It's the moment we've all been waiting for. The trailer for Grace of Monaco, starring Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly, has been released today.

The film is set in 1962, six years after the Hollywood screen icon married into royalty with her legendary wedding to Prince Rainier III.

It takes an intimate look at the life of the princess, as she struggles to reconcile her past as one of cinema's greatest actresses with her status as a royal and mother-of-two.

Grace found herself plunged into a personal crisis that year when her husband's modernisation of an ailing Monaco was halted by Charles de Gaulle - the French President - and his attempts to not only impose French taxation on Monaco, but reclaim the principality for France by force.

With an international crisis looming and overtures from Alfred Hitchcock to return to her career in Hollywood, the princess found herself torn between her glamorous former life as a globally adored star and her new role role as a dedicated wife, mother and political talisman.

It's one of the most high-profile roles yet for Oscar-winner Kidman. "This is not a biopic or a fictionalised documentary of Grace Kelly," the 46-year-old actress said. "But only a small part of her life where she reveals her great humanity as well as her fears, and weaknesses."

Grace of Monaco also stars Tim Roth as Prince Rainier III and Paz Vega as Maria Callas. Take a look at the trailer below and stay tuned for the film's release on 6 June.
