Stylist were recently joined for an exclusive web chat with Lone Scherfig, the award-winning director of One Day.
Fresh from working with Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess in the critically acclaimed film, Lone took part in a dynamic online discussion with One Day fans and admirers of her work. The chat is now closed, but you can read the transcript from it, below.
The recipient of Denmark’s prestigious Carl Theodor Dreyer Honorary Award, Lone is a heavyweight player in the worldwide film industry.
She began her career directing award-winning commercials and television dramas in her native Denmark. Her first feature as director, The Birthday Trip, was screened at the 1991 Berlin International Film Festival and won several awards at festivals worldwide. Her second feature, On Our Own, won the Grand Prize at the Montreal Film Festival.
Lone’s most recent film as director was An Education, adapted by Nick Hornby from Lynn Barber’s memoir and starring Carey Mulligan. The film received three Academy Award nominations and further secured her status among critics and moviegoers as a highly respected director.
One Day, the big-screen adaptation of David Nicholls' epic love story starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess, is out in the UK on 24 August.
