Whitney Port has become a first-time mother – but she is “going to try my very best not to become one of those mums whose feed is dominated by their baby”.

The reality star took to Instagram to confirm that she and her husband, Tim Rosenman, welcomed their son on 27 July – and that they have given him a seriously easy-breezy name, too.

“Sorry I've been MIA for like a week, I lost my phone,” she joked, alongside a hand-painted birth announcement. “Just kidding, I made a human!

“Sonny Sanford Rosenman was born on 7/27/17, and everyone is so happy and healthy and we are home now.”

The name Sonny is taken from the seriously retro nickname stemming from “my son”, and it’s been on the top 1000 baby name list every single year since 1927.

Sanford, meanwhile, is a Fifties surname-name that spawned the nickname Sandy. It means, quite literally, “sandy ford”.

Continuing her Instagram announcement, Port writes: “I'm going to try my very best to not be one of those moms whose feed is dominated by their baby, but I can totally see how difficult it will be not to.

“I am beyond obsessed and in love and wish I could bottle this feeling for all of you out there.”

The reality star then asked her fans to visit her blog, where she has penned a post about the realities of becoming a mother – and all the ways it has (and hasn’t) changed her.

Port writes: “We’ve all heard mothers give the same speech about how life-changing the love for your baby is, and it’s not like I didn’t believe it or anything, but I guess I couldn’t actually connect to those exact feelings until the doctor placed Sonny onto my chest.

“It’s a bit like getting a toy you really, really wanted as a child. There was all the anticipation and build up, and then you open it and you love it.”

She adds: “Unlike the toy, however, I am obviously never going to get sick of Sonny – and he poops.”

Port goes on to explain that, while she is absolutely besotted with her newborn son, she is loath to admit that she loves him more than anything or anyone else in her life.

“I don’t want to say that I love him more than anything ever,” she says, “because I love Timmy and my family, too. It’s not about loving him more than something else I love.

“It’s just awesome.”

The Hills star finishes by saying: “I can’t wait to watch him change and grow and take on my traits and Timmy’s.

“I could go on forever, so I’ll stop now… but get ready for a lot more Sonny talk coming soon.”
