As you scroll through your Instagram feed this afternoon you might notice something is missing. The profile pictures of Cameron Diaz, Jessica Alba and Blake Lively, to name a few, are no longer there.

Instead, there's a sea of generic faceless pictures with the words "not-there.org".

That's because a host of A-listers are deleting their profile pictures in spirit of International Women's Day yesterday, as a reminder that we're still "not there" when it comes to gender equality for females.

"Inequality exists at work / at home / at the doctor's office / at school - and yet these issues do not get the attention they deserve," wrote Cameron Diaz when she changed her profile headshot yesterday afternoon on Instagram.

"It's almost like we're NOT THERE at all. Today is International Women's Day and I am taking part in a campaign that literally removes women from the media. You too can participate. Spread the word by changing your profile on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc."
