"Can I trade it in for equal pay?": Feminists have the perfect response to Trump's sexist #womancard

No one brings the sass to social media quite like a group of feminists.

In the last year alone we've had our Twitter and Instagram feeds stormed by all manner of brilliant hashtags, from #ilooklikeanengineer to #shoutyourabortion, while the noise women created over the tampon tax even helped get it abolished once and for all.

Now, women are taking to Twitter to ridicule Donald Trump's latest sexist comment, after the Republican candidate told Hillary Clinton people would only vote for her in the Presidential elections because she played the "woman card".

Speaking at a rally on Tuesday night, he said, "I call her ‘Crooked Hillary’ because she’s crooked, and you know the only thing she’s got is the woman card."

Women across the world responded in fury, using the hashtag #womancard to highlight what really happens when they try to use a 'woman card' in real life.

"Everytime I try to play my #womancard, a man has to explain how it works," wrote one user.  "I'd totally play my #WomanCard but I'm too busy cooking, cleaning, working and shuttling my children all over town," wrote another.

Even Clinton herself took to the social media site, writing, "If fighting for women’s health care and paid family leave and equal pay is playing the woman card, then deal me in".
