Yoko Ono and cool go hand in hand, so it's no surprise she's chosen to to open her latest art installation, Das Gift, in Berlin - a city experiencing a surge in popularity thanks to its burgeoning cultural scene.

On display at the Haunch of Venison, Ono's Das Gift - created to raise awareness of violence - is a multi-media exhibition consisting of sculpture, sound, film, and participatory elements.

Best known for her extensive charity work, staunch feminism, and - of course - marriage to John Lennon, multi-tasking Yoko began her pioneering work with conceptual art in the Fifties, publishing a groundbreaking collection of works, entitled Grapefruit, in 1964.

This time round, one of the stand-out - and never before seen - sculptures on display, A HOLE, features a pane of glass pierced by a bullet which, by viewing from both sides of the glass, spectators get to see the perspective of both aggressor and victim - a fragile yet brutally forceful piece which reminds us of Yoko's tragic past.

However, Das Gift is not all doom and gloom. Along with the more serious exhibits, Yoko was careful to include one final room 'where one only smiles'. As a mood-uplifting final touch, visitors' smiles will be included in a streaming video shown during the exhibition.
