As the duration of the kiss is so short, Fine noted that you must be intentional with it, so as to create a romantic atmosphere.

It seems the hack works, as another creator, Aleigh (@aleigh_loves_jayden_2), gave it a rave review in a separate video. “We do it every day,” Aleigh explained. “Last night we got into a tiny argument and to make sure we didn’t go to bed mad, he said, ‘We need to do our kiss,’ and we did it and we were able to talk out the issue.”

Laura Cannon, founder and head matchmaker at Twelve Stories is a big fan of the trend. “It’s a glorious idea that we should all embrace,” she tells Stylist. “It’s fun and it’s science. Regular kissing keeps that initial spark alive, protecting intimacy through life’s ups and downs. The act of kissing releases oxytocin, promoting trust and bonding.

“It creates positive associations with closeness, leading to a desire for more. Plus, it’s a non-verbal cue of love, desire and passion that can be challenging to express in tough times. Kissing reduces stress, allowing more room for happiness and frivolity.”

Meanwhile, there are many other ways to increase intimacy levels alongside kissing. “Firstly, commit to the same page and have open conversations about your feelings and future goals together,” Cannon advises. “Agree on check-in points to assess your progress. Secondly, make the first move. Take the initiative and be pleasantly surprised at how quickly it’s reciprocated. Plan fun activities together and find time to relax with one another too, like a morning walk or booking a couple’s holiday.
