According to research published in Personality And Individual Differences, it turns out that people who are on dating apps tend to prefer potential partners who have similar levels of three key traits: agreeableness, conscientiousness and extraversion.

But while we often hear that ‘confidence is key’ and fiery passion is exciting, what the results actually showed is that people were generally more likely to match with dating profiles that were perceived as agreeable, emotionally stable and introverted.

People are naturally attracted to people who seem to understand them, and a 2018 study found that introverts are better at understanding people and predicting social phenomena, allowing them to respond to social situations in thoughtful ways.
