Even in open relationships, no one couple is the same. Open relationships don’t just mean it’s a free-for-all to sleep with anyone or that we have deep feelings for other people. Ben is the only one I have feelings for; sex is just a bit of fun for us.

We’re getting married abroad next year and out of my four bridesmaids, two are involved in the sex party scene. One of the girls is with Ben’s best man and we regularly couple swap with them. This makes the wedding build-up even more exciting because we have an amazing group of close friends around us whom we trust implicitly. We will all be celebrating together, that’s for sure, although, we have both agreed that we will only be staying with each other on the wedding night.

My advice for other women thinking about opening up their relationship is to think about it for a couple of months and make sure it’s definitely something you’re both happy and comfortable with as a couple. It certainly helped that we were both present with the new person the first time we decided to open our relationship: it wasn’t that one of us went off and slept with someone else first. I would also say that honesty is key. Be honest with yourself about how you feel and, of course, be honest and over-communicate with your partner. If the foundation of your relationship isn’t already rock solid, then I would suggest waiting.
