And our latest award nomination is...

Published

We were thrilled to learn this morning that Stylist's publisher, ShortList Media, has reached the finals of the National Business Awards, nominated in the Santander Small To Medium Sized Business Of The Year category alongside 11 other finalists.

The awards count as the UK’s most prestigious independent business recognition platform with a focus on excellence, innovation and ethical business.

The panel of 12 shortlisting judges includes Ariadne Capital CEO Julie Meyer (who has previously taken one of our Lunchtime Masterclasses) and Stephen Dury, Director of Market Development at Santander UK, both pictured above with fellow judges. Dury said of our nomination, "ShortList Media has managed to find a niche in the lifestyle publishing market, delivering a recognisable brand, exceptional distribution, strong growth and a proven profitable business model going against a sector trend. ShortList is certainly a business to watch for the future.”

Mike Soutar, our Chief Executive (pictured), said, “ShortList Media has become the fastest-growing media company in Britain since we launched the business four years ago.

“Our success is down to great ideas and the appetite to take risks in the middle of an economic downturn … but mostly down to the talent of the editorial, commercial, digital, distribution and publishing teams in print and online at ShortList, Stylist, ShortList MODE and Emerald Street. I’d like to thank them for their skill and dedication. It would be a fitting tribute to all of their hard work if we could bring home such a prestigious business award in November.”

We face stiff competition however, with other shortlisted businessed including The Bread Factory (the company behind the amazing Gail's artisan bakeries), Heaven by Deborah Mitchell (the beauty brand loved by A-listers including Dannii Minogue and Michelle Pfeiffer), and even Liam Gallagher's Pretty Green clothing label.

We join these and over 100 other finalists across 15 award categories (with a combined turnover of £96 billion) who will now present to the panel of judges in September and October at London's iconic Gherkin building. Winners will then be honoured at the National Business Awards gala dinner on 8 November, in an event attended and addressed by the Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne.
