A travel mag has named the top 50 places to visit next year – and you’ll want to visit every single Instagram-worthy last one of them.

As our thoughts start to turn toward a new year, ticking off places on our bucket list begins to take up our attention too as we dream of white sand beaches, scorching sunshine and sipping on Piña Coladas (or indeed, luscious green landscapes, walking tours and foodie hotspots).

And to put it bluntly: 2017 has been a year to forget.

Which is why Travel + Leisure magazine’s annual 50 best places to travel list is an ideal source of holiday inspiration before booking your destination for 2018. From historical sites to idyllic beaches and one-stop wonders, this is a list of the places worth visiting after the New Year, according to travel writers, editors and experts.

And those interested in such things will no doubt be pleased to know the chosen few are also incredibly Insta-worthy.

See the top 10 list below:

10. Fiji

From infinity pools to tropical gardens, Fiji appears to be the ultimate destination for relaxation. With 21 beach resorts on offer and the world renowned Great Astrolabe Reef, it’s perfect for diving, exploring and soaking up the sunshine.

9. Marrakesh, Morocco

The city of Marrakesh has long been associated with culture and art as many a celebrity and artistic figure has found a wealth of inspiration from the Moroccan capital. And in 2018 it seems like its arts scene will be upgraded once more with the introduction of the 1:54 Contemporary African Art Fair at the hotel La Mamounia.

8. Egypt

Egypt may be appearing in the news for its political unrest, but while the UK government advises against travel to certain areas, others are designated safe. There is currently no official Foreign and Commonwealth Office advice against travel to Cairo, Alexandria, the tourist areas along the Nile river (including Luxor, Qina, Aswan, Abu Simbel and the Valley of the Kings) and the Red Sea resorts of Sharm el Sheikh and Hurghada, though there is precautionary advice against flying to Sharm el Sheikh.

7. Uzbekistan

If you’re on the hunt for the relatively unknown yet historically rich then Uzbekistan is one to add to your list. And it’s about to witness great change.

“Since the death of authoritarian president Islam Karimov last year, the new regime has taken steps toward reform that have given both Uzbeks and the international community reason for optimism,” says Travel + Leisure

6. Walla Walla Valley, Washington

If wine is your thing, then we’re certain the 140 vineyards in Walla Walla Valley in Washington will satisfy your every whim. With rolling fields galore, cycling or walking is ideal for getting in some time away from the hustle and bustle.

5. Los Cabos, Mexico

Mexico is home to tequila, tacos and a good time – and a plethora of new hotels to pick from in 2018.

“A new crop of five-star brands are coming in 2018, including the Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, the Four Seasons Los Cabos at Costa Palmas, the Montage Los Cabos, 1 Hotel & Homes, and the first Nobu Hotel in Mexico. Foodies will want to make a reservation at Acre, a restaurant-farm from executive chefs Kevin Luzande and Oscar Torres, who are set to unveil 12 new treehouse guest rooms on site,” says Travel + Leisure

4. Buenos Aires, Argentina

SO much is set to happen in the city of Buenos Aires in Argentina next year. From the G20 summit to the Youth Olympic Games, it’s going to a hotbed of sport, activities and good fun.

3. Grenada

From its unspoiled sands and rich local culture Grenada in the Caribbean is perfect for simply getting away from it all. It’s definitely one to tick off the bucket list.

2. Greenville, South Carolina

From bike rides to long walks, Greenville in South Carolina is home to chilling out in an active way. And with loads of new restaurants set to open next year it’ll feed your soul too.

1. Šolta, Croatia

And making the top spot is Šolta in Croatia. From clear bays to medieval villages, the place is a gem. With the launch of UberBoat next year travelling between the 1,200 islands on offer it will soon become a whole lot easier to see and do it all.

Everyone needs to relax, reboot and rest post-2017, so get booking now.
