Sunshine yellow is the new buzz shade. We’ve hand-picked our favourite places around the world painted with this positive hue, from pretty cafes to the perfect posing spots.

There was a time when every cafe, eatery, bar and restaurant we went to was doused with the sugary-sweet shade of millennial pink.

From the head-to-toe rose hue of Sketch’s afternoon tea room to the instantly recognisable, barbie-pink paint of Frank’s Cafe in Peckham, getting a picture in the pink used to be a necessity of our night out.

But we’ve called time on blush backdrops. It’s official: pink is out, and Gen-Z yellow is most certainly in.

Nowadays there’s nothing more illuminating on the ‘gram than a bright background, or a restaurant with sunshine-y accents. We’ve looked all around the world for the coolest, most on-trend places to eat, drink and pose, and have found the best spots to get a picture that pops.

The Ace Hotel & Swim Club, spa and resort in Palm Springs, California is a superbly cool place to visit, whether you’re a paying guest or not. The massages and natural treatments are said to be incredible and some of the rooms even have record players and old vinyl in them. Our favourite thing about it, though, is this bright yellow mural which attracts all that stop by for an unmissable photo opportunity.

London is full of adorable cafes, but none quite as yellow as this cute bakery in Primrose Hill. The cafe was started by two friends, Martha and Lisa, and fourteen years later this is just one of the brand’s three branches in the city. Martha now owns the business on her own, and is keen to keep the spirit of a small business alive with high quality, seasonal ingredients and hand-iced small batches that give the essence of old fashioned cooking.

The Handmade Burger Co may be an expanding chain, but is, at its heart, an independent family-run business. That’s why each restaurant is individually designed to have its own aesthetic. Our favourite is this yellow-bellied beauty in Bournemouth: the mustard seating, which coordinates so perfectly with those dapper tiles, is ideal for an Instagram snap!

Situated in the 16th arrondissement, Le Flandrin is known for having a fancy reputation, incredible atmosphere, outdoor terrace and fabulous decor (think luxe yellow velvet and textured gold). All together now? Oh la la!

The mustard stretch sofa strikes again! Faith & Flower’s website is a montage of positive reviews and accolades for being such a stylish restaurant. We particularly love how well the yellow seating and the statement, green glassware on the tables work together.

London’s The Savoy is famous for being one of the most luxurious hotels in the city, but you don’t have to be a high-paying guest to visit the golden bar that lies within. Perfect for a celebration, the creative mixologists here can serve up almost any cocktail you like, and the menu boasts a wide range of champagne.

If there was ever one brunch spot in London that could be perfectly represented by the colour yellow, it would have to be The Breakfast Club. This wacky, silly, lovely chain of eateries serve up some of the best breakfast foods around, so much so that some of them often have queues down the street. Although the decor in each one is varied (think inflatable flamingos, The Smurfs wallpaper and neon signs), the bright yellow facades are a trademark constant.

This little gem is all over Instagram thanks to its statement yellow wall - and we have to agree that it looks great in pictures. However, Minister Cafe is so much more than a pretty yellow place: it is also famed for its vast array of cakes, nibbles and craft beers. Ideal for an evening out, eh?

This Australian brunch spot takes the yellow trend so seriously that it’s even matched its takeaway coffee cups to its decor.

This neighbourhood retreat in Aldgate serves delicious food and coffee that’s almost as beautiful as the interiors. We can’t get enough of this tiled bar and the way it’s been topped with lush greenery, especially on that clementine background.

Stylist.co.uk has had a yellow makeover on 15 August, to celebrate our Yellow Issue and pay homage to the colour of the season. Read more about the most playful shade of all here.
