There are some things that are just good. Getting into a freshly made bed at the end of a long day. Leisurely Sunday lunches with people you love. That first pale evening in spring when you realise that the days are finally getting longer again.

A beautiful view is one of those just-good things. Even if you’re having the worst day in the world, a stunning landscape (or cityscape) never fails to lift the spirits – and now, the votes are in on Britain’s most beloved vistas.

More than 2,500 people took part in a major new study to find the best views in Britain. And from the Scottish Highlands to the West Country, from stately city landmarks to wild coastlines, the results are pretty breathtaking.

Samsung commissioned the survey ahead of the launch of its new Galaxy S8 smartphone. Researchers asked respondents to vote for their favourite view from a longlist curated by a panel of travel experts, as well as to share their thoughts on travel photography.

It was revealed that the average British adult takes over 1,000 pictures a year – and most (66%) would rather take a photo of an amazing landscape or city view than anything else.

Scenic shots were also found to be the most inspiring – and envy-inducing – on social media. Some 50% of participants in the study said that they were more likely to visit a place having seen a photo of it posted on Instagram, Facebook or other social platforms, and almost half said that landscape photos were the most likely to make their friends jealous.

So, without further ado, let’s take a look at Britain’s best views. UK travel inspiration, guaranteed.
