Have you got what it takes to bake like Mary Berry? Give your culinary skills a whirl in her one-time coastal home

If you’ve always had a thing for Mary Berry’s baking, now’s your chance to recreate her magic (with zero soggy bottoms, naturally).

The one-time home of the Bake Off supremo is being turned into a holiday rental, for you to work your cooking skills at the very same Aga as Berry herself once used.

The lovely looking Old Manse house in Salcombe, Devon, comes with the kind of airily efficient kitchen you’d expect from TV’s favourite baking judge.

There’s a duck egg blue Aga, of course, along with an electric ceramic hob, double electric oven and granite worktops.

Everything you need, in other words, to conjure up a batch of freshly baked Madeleines in true Mary Berry style.

Make yourself at home in Mary Berry’s one-time kitchen…

Berry lived in the four-bedroom Salcombe home between 2006 and 2015, and used it as her go-to holiday base in-between filming and other commitments.

She once described the sea-facing property as “a lovely family house”, saying: “The Old Manse is very quiet - you don’t hear what’s going on outside, but you still have a view of the water.

“The kitchen works very well, and of course if you don’t want to cook, there are great restaurants in town,” she added.

Berry also told local magazine Devon Life that she enjoyed hosting big family gatherings in the Salcombe house.

“Down here in Salcombe, Sunday lunch is definitely not a roast in the middle of the day,” she said. “It is often a buffet you might take to the beach, or a slow roast which you can leave in the oven while you are out in the daytime.”

So, if you fancy getting your bake on in the exact spot where Berry tried and tested her many feted recipes, head on over to where prices start from £926 a week for a maximum of six adults.
