A luxury hotel group in Mexico is paying top dollar for someone to recce its fleet of beachfront properties
We hear the words “dream job” bandied around an awful lot these days, but one new opening posted by a luxury hotel group in Mexico really does live up to the hype.
Vidanta, a decadent portfolio of coastal retreats specialising in the kind of palm frond perfection to make the Insta-masses drool, is looking for a new happiness ambassador to spread joy in their exclusive hideaways.
As is becoming the norm with such job ads, the exact duties of this year-long gig are rather vague.
You will, says the brief, be trained as a “social influencer”, as you travel from coast to coast in Mexico, to experience “all Vidanta has to offer”. And “charismatic sunny vibes” are a plus.
More importantly, however, the role comes with a staggering $120,000 pay check (as revealed in the terms and conditions), the equivalent of £93,000.
Plus, you’ll get all travel expenses covered as you meander, flip-flops in hand, between your base at Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta in Riviera Nayari - a dreamy stretch of ocean on Mexico’s Pacific coast - and other beachfront properties.
As part of your position with Vidanta, you’ll need to get closely acquainted with its repertoire of delights.
Naturally, this will include a fair amount of wafting between powdery white beaches and the lagoon-style pools that are all part of the group’s signature style.
You may also be called upon for such arduous tasks as trying out a “tequila massage” (yes really, it’s a thing) or giving your verdict on new recipes from a crew of Michelin-starred chefs.
If you can un-glue yourself from your sunlounger at any point, you could be requested to stroll to nearby sights, too.
Ancient Mayan temples and Mexico’s vine-covered wild swimming cenotes are just some of the treasures that beckon from the resorts scattered across this tropical wonderland.
Back at the hotels, test-driving the suites is another demand you’ll face at the coal face of this exhausting role, and one that will naturally involve a fair amount of time in the private plunge pool (how else could you possibly test it?)
Iván Chávez, executive vice president at Vidanta, says the lucky candidate will “fully immerse themselves in each of our resort destinations”, including “discovering the hottest new restaurants and nightclubs”.
Other miscellaneous duties listed in the unreal-sounding job description include “naming all the blow-up pool animals” and “tasting the difference between Blanco, Resposado, and Añejo tequila”.
We don’t know about you, but we think we’d be perfect…
Ready to take on the job of a lifetime?
Vidanta is looking for strong communicators, with creative ideas and an ability to stay on top of emerging trends. Marketing experience and good organisational skills are a bonus.
