People are opting for an experience with a difference this year…

Is there anything better than planning your year ahead in January? First up: a new travel destination and a great experience.

With an abundance of places to see in the world, it can be difficult to decide where to go and what to do. From Sri Lanka to Scotland, we have plenty of interesting places currently on our bucket list.

Thankfully, TripAdvisor has made things a little easier for us all by tracking down some unique experiences for us all to try out in 2019.. From paddleboarding at midnight in Barcelona, to goat yoga in Washington DC, you won’t be hard pressed to add a quirky experience to your list.

Take a look below at some of the most interesting things to do this year. Happy booking!

Paddle at midnight in Barcelona

Who wouldn’t want to see a view of the Barcelona skyline at night? Not only does it sound romantic, but it’s certainly unique, too. After hopping on a paddleboard and taking to the ocean, you’ll be able to see the marine life below your feet as it’s lit by LED lights (so cool!). As part of a group of 12, you’ll then enjoy a delicious dinner under the stars.

Not only has the thermal mud and acidic sulphurous waters been used by local Maori for bathing for the past 800 years, but it’s also home to some of the most unique geothermal areas in the world. And after smoothing your skin with mud, you can take a plunge in one of the waterfalls.
