Secluded Cabin

Celebrate the return of Autumn with a staycation at one of the UK’s most secluded cabins, or go further afield for a bigger adventure.

Autumn is the season for cabins. Whether you’re a fan of the great outdoors or prefer to spend your time snuggled-up inside under a blanket, there’s nothing better than watching the leaves turn brown and fall around you. There’s also the benefit of enjoying all of that miles away from any grumpy commuters and dirty city air.

Because after all, at the end of the day, who hasn’t dreamed about getting away from it all for a bit? There’s a lot to love about London – the food, the parks, the sights – but sometimes we’re left craving that little touch of nature an inner-city park just doesn’t seem to provide. Spending time in nature can also help you to boost your wellbeing and decrease feelings of anxiety and depression, so why not take a little time to yourself this autumn to recharge and unwind?

We have compiled a list of beautifully serene and secluded cabins, so you can get away from it all and give yourself a break. You won’t regret it.

Reykjavík, Iceland

Secluded Cabins: Reykjavík, Iceland

Situated right next to the Blue Lagoon in Iceland, this cabin is the perfect nordic getaway. It never gets properly dark in Iceland in the summer, so lie back and watch the horizon from your decking morning to night. Go for a dip in the nearby Blue Lagoon (seriously, it’s stunning) or if you’re missing civilisation, head into Reykjavík city centre – it’s only 20 mins away.

Westport, Ireland

Aptly named the Cuckoo Wood Hexagon, this charming cabin is made up of six sides which come together to offer a unique and comfortable space. It may not be as far afield as the other cabins but it still offers all the benefits of a remote location – and there are plenty of walking routes around which are easy to get to without a car.

Cliftonhill, Scotland

As far as cabins go, this one’s got the wow factor. Situated on a farm in the Southern regions of Scotland, spend a weekend (or two) taking in the view from the comfort of your very own hot tub. Or, if the weather isn’t quite what you were hoping for, you can always cosy up on the sofa and watch the wilderness through the large glass windows which stretch the length of the cabin.

Gasquet, California

Secluded Cabins: Gasquet, California

Go completely off-grid in the North Californian wilderness with this charming rustic cabin. Situated in a small eco-village (Maitreya Mountain Village) inside Six Rivers National Forest, take in the sustainable projects going on around you and get back in touch with nature – this mountain paradise is sure to offer a unique experience!

Gartmore, Scotland

Secluded Cabins: Gartmore, Scotland

If you’re looking for a real cabin cabin, this is the one for you. Spend your time away from the city nestled among the trees in Scotland with a wood fire to keep you warm through the chilly nights. And, with fluffy towels and robes provided ready for when you arrive, what more could you really want?

Hudson Valley, New York

At 180 square feet, this one’s a bit on the small side, but that’s all part of the fun. With large glass windows on three out of the cabin’s four sides, look out onto the rolling countryside as you sleep under the stars. And with New York City only 90 minutes away, you can take a day trip to the city with the knowledge that your own secluded haven awaits.
